Hello! I’m Antonio, a mixed method UX Researcher with nearly a decade of experience across all sorts of industries and products. I am a firm believer that a better experience interacting with a product or business leads to more successful outcomes for all parties involved: a true win-win.

But better experiences don’t just happen! It takes a lot of effort and understanding to find those opportunities, to advocate for progress, and to reach our goals. I pride myself on going deep hunting for insights and making sure stakeholders can see every path forward.

About Me

I grew up in Tampa, Florida and spent most days among the Cuban side of my family. My family is the reason for who I am today and have influenced everything from my personality to my cooking.

I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a focus on quantitative analysis, majoring in Statistics and minoring in Mathematics and Computer Science. I then moved to Atlanta to attend the Industrial Engineering program at Georgia Tech, leaning even more into statistical modeling and statistical simulation.

It was at Georgia Tech I first became interested in UX. I began taking Human-Computer Interaction courses, and eventually moved to Seattle. By 2014 I had earned both my Master’s degrees, completed an internship with Amazon Kindle, and began working at Microsoft as a vendor UX Researcher.

Since then, I have worked as a UX Researcher at Microsoft, Amazon, and Zillow Group and impacted many high profile products and experiences you likely still use today.

Outside of my career, I love to get out and experience the world. I love to travel and immerse myself in other cultures. I experiment with cooking new dishes or trying new cocktails. But lately, my main hobby has been landscaping and learning about how to create beautiful natural scenery around my own home.

Case Studies

Vendor & Seller Central - Roles & Permissions

Amazon’s Vendor and Seller Centrals are large and complex logistics, finance, and marketing platforms used by hundreds of thousands of suppliers world-wide. Understanding how suppliers assign tasks to their employees using the platform would enable Amazon to better target design changes, improve data gathering efforts, and greatly improve relevance of important communications.

Floorplan Creation Software Redesign and Automation

By early 2021, Zillow began to offer the creation of floor plans using the Zillow 3D Home app. Behind the scenes, these floor plans were created manually by annotators using an in-house tool created by engineers. I lead research efforts to create a new version of the tool while progressively integrating automations from machine learning scientists.

Home Shopping Visual Media - Measures of Success

Evaluating design and research efforts at a program level is difficult and often poorly attempted. I was tasked with conducting research and crafting an argument for new design and research OKRs for the Rich Media org. Through foundational research studies and extensive reviews of years worth of findings, I modeled success from both the buyer and business perspectives and proposed new qualitative experiential OKRs.

Other Projects & Experiences

In both my school life and my personal life, I have been lucky enough to lead and be a part of some fascinating and challenging projects. I have selected a few examples to demonstrate how leadership qualities go beyond being on-the-clock and permeate everyday life.
